Real Oviedo returned home for the first of two consecutive home matches on Sunday. Despite playing in front of a friendly crowd, the home side had to come back twice to secure a point against CD Numancia.
The result leaves Real Oviedo in 13th in the Spanish Secunda Division with 9 points. They are three points out of the final promotion playoff spot.
The much-hyped Michu made the starting XI for this match and while he had a few quality chances (especially late in the match), he failed to find the back of the net. Numancia did not however, as they struck early in this match. A poor Michu clearance led to a goal by Regalon in the twelfth minute. As they would the entire match, however, Real Oviedo responded in short order. Jose Fernandez took the ball down the right wing and whipped a cross into the box, which found Touche and the goal.
Touche had multiple quality chances to push the home side ahead early in the second half but was unable to convert. It was Numancia who broke the tie when Manu del Moral scored on the counter in the 63rd minute. Again Real Oviedo responded, this time with the help of Nando, who came on in the 64th minute for David Rocha. After winning the ball on the left and sending it into the area, a Numancia player deflected the ball into the net to equalize the score.
Real Oviedo returns to the pitch on Saturday when they face Rayo. A victory would propel Real past Rayo likely into the top 10.
